Tyre Labelling

Tyre labels serve several functions. As well as being a prime, decorative label, they also carry important information on safety, logistics and product use. The most common printing methods for these labels are UV flexography for colour decoration and thermal transfer for any variable information.

The choice of adhesive is critical as the label must remove easily from the tyre leaving no residue behind, yet at the same time the adhesive must provide excellent tack on the rough tyre surface.

Most tyre label face materials have a barrier property to prevent adhesive migration which could otherwise affect the printed image. Paper-based label products often have an aluminium layer or greaseproof treatment applied. The current trend is towards filmic materials such as polypropylene.
